A Heavenly Basecamp

Oh I’m near heaven – Heavenly Valley that is…. Actually I’m not there yet but when I go, I’ll be staying here.  I’m a mountain girl at heart and would rather spend a summer day lakeside than beachside, so I was intrigued by Remodelista’s post about this wonderful boutique hotel located smack in the middle of South Lake Tahoe. I just had to check it out.

Recently remodeled, Basecamp Hotel is a green hotel using sustainable products and materials. Encouraging exploration of the lake, slopes and mountain trails, they include many amenities such as lockers to store equipment, benches to wax those skis & boards, and friendly knowledgable staff to point you in the right direction for your adventure.

I love their imaginative themed and comfy rooms that accommodate two or up to a party of eight.  Perfect for those ski weekends.

The bar serves gourmet hot chocolate and local beer. Relax here after a day on the slopes or trail, and share stories with fellow explorers….

The communal dining room serves breakfast and dinners on specified nights. I love the rustic reclaimed wood and Tolix chairs used here.

How about the faux deer head “mounted” on the wall of the lounge.  A picnic bench completes the theme.

Tahoe is a short drive from us, and although we usually stay on the North Shore in Truckee or Tahoe City, I’m thinking we will be making our way around the lake to stay here.  I just have to go!

  1. The tent and picnic benches are in the room? Away from the bugs? Yes. This is my type of camping! I have never been to Tahoe. Hope you post pictures!
