Colorful Coaster DIY

Need a quick project for your weekend?

Here’s an idea I came across on our trip though Italy – watercolor coasters!  I snapped these pictures while we were waiting for our drinks to arrive…and thought – how cute…how simple!
So get inspired, get in touch with your inner child, dig out that watercolor paint box and get to work.
Create a design on watercolor paper (I’ve used a piece of drawing paper from my sketchbook when I don’t have any watercolor paper handy)  Let it dry and then laminate them. Clear contact paper works as well.
Note…You may have to iron the paper flat if the paper becomes warped (remember to turn off steam setting).

This would be a great project for the kids that are still stuck inside and getting restless on these winter days, don’t you think?  There is still a lot of long winter days ahead.

Have a great weekend – I’m hearing that the deep-freeze is ending!
We are still praying for rain & snow here.

XOXO

  1. Great idea and I love watercolor – its a relatively easy medium to use, though I am not an artist but did take art class for my design course. Hope the weekend is good!

    • I’ve been a fan of watercolor since I was young. My favorite aunt was a master watercolorist and we have several of her pieces in my family. I took a couple of watercolor classes in college, but I’m not very good.
