Have you noticed all the gingham that’s been hitting the runways this spring? It seems to be everywhere…
Many top designers sent their versions of the nostalgic checks down the catwalk. Perfect for spring and summer, the easily recognizable check is easy to live with. A little bit country, a little bit rock and roll, the iconic print is reminiscent of 60s mod and 50s summer picnics.
Interior trends often follow fashion so I decided to explore how this bright and fun textile could be translated into our homes.
This porch gets spruced up with a traditional stripe, french grain sack, and gingham.
A little goes a long way in my book…look how sophisticated this oversized pillow looks on the ticking settee.
It’s the perfect complement for another textile classic toile.
Bright and cheerful, this room just screams spring.
In a subdued & subtle earthy color palette this kitchen doesn’t overdo the print.
Now how cute are these dishes? Just right for spring and summer dinner parties out on the patio.
Want to try your hand at gingham cookies? Perfect for Easter, no?
Personally, I love the resurgence of this checked pattern – growing up in the 50s/60s it reminds me of my youth. I’m headed to the fabric store…a new boxy version of Jackie O’s top might just be in the works shortly. (My apologies – I couldn’t find the original source for this photo).
So, what do you think, will you be getting on the gingham check bandwagon?
Until next time…
