Have you ever used message bars? I discovered them a few years ago when I received one as a gift. Heaven. It contained cocoa butter, and coconut oil. and it brought back fond memories of my teen years. Back then, sunscreen was not known, so I would grab a bar of cocoa butter, slather it on, and lay in the sun for hours. Being a child of the 60s/70s, this was a common tanning method – actually I preferred this in lieu of using baby oil and iodine.
The bars are so easy to use, they are activated by body heat, so all you need to do is glide the bar over your skin. The bar gently melts as you message the bar onto your skin. I have dry skin, so I find that the bars leave my skin hydrated for most of the day, as opposed to lotions that I have to re-apply several times daily to keep it moist.
I have always leaned toward clean scents as opposed to florals. I know I’m in the minority here, but I’ve never liked lavender, it makes me sneeze. Citrus, vanilla, and mango are my favorites – whether its perfumes, lotions or candles.
On my recent trip to Tahoe (read about it here), I stopped into Lather and Fizz, a wonderful body and bath shop located in Squaw Valley and Tahoe City. As you can see, I took the opportunity to resupply myself with some body massage bars and flavored chapsticks. There are lots of other sources for massage bars, but I would love for you to check out Lather and Fizz’s website and give them a try. I know I have them send me my favorite products regularly. They have wonderful products in a wide variety of scents, many of them are handmade by one of the partners.
Meanwhile, I’m enjoying my message bars and their rehydrating properties immensely.
Have a great weekend everyone.
Until next time…
