Lauren Liess is an accomplished designer in the Washington DC area. She has a successful design business and a book to her credit. She also might just be the next Joanna Gaines.
I tuned into her HGTV pilot “Best House on the Block,” and I was not disappointed. She’s a natural in front of the camera. I love her style and have followed her blog Pure Style Home for awhile now. She terms her style ‘relaxed luxury’ and I couldn’t agree more. Priding herself on creating sophisticated yet livable comfortable interiors, she strives to design practical spaces that are unique, yet fit the client’s lifestyle. Here’s a look at some of her work.
I’m loving her textile line that consists of hand drawn prints that reflect outdoor experiences from her childhood – think wildflowers and such. You can check out her textile line here.
She is also a successful author – her book is filled with practical information on design basics, aesthetics, and tackling room specific challenges. Learn more about Habitat: “The Field Guide to Decorating,” here.
Best House on the Block is her new venture. A collaboration with her husband and a contractor friend, it’s a potential new series being piloted on HGTV. I found it a refreshing detour from all the flip/flop and rehab shows currently on HGTV’s lineup. Although there is some renovation going on, Lauren takes us through her design thought process before showing us the big reveal (think Sarah Richardson and Candice Olsen). The next showing of their pilot will be on August 17. If you haven’t seen it, why don’t you tune in and give it a view.
I for one, am hoping that HGTV includes “Best House on the Block,” in their lineup next year.
Until next time…
